Precautions for Electric Forklifts

The use of electric forklifts should focus on the two core aspects of safe operation and equipment maintenance to avoid personal injury or equipment damage caused by operational errors.

Electric Forklifts

I. Precautions Before Operation

  1. Check Equipment Condition: Walk around the forklift to inspect tire wear and air pressure, whether the lights and warning sounds are normal, and if the forks have deformation or cracks.
  2. Verify Battery Power and Instruments: Check if the battery power is sufficient. After starting the forklift, inspect the indicator lights on the instrument panel to ensure there are no fault alarms.
  3. Take Personal Protection Measures: Must wear non-slip work shoes. When there is dust or peculiar smell in the operation area, a protective mask should be worn.

II. Precautions During Operation

  1. Control Driving Speed: The no-load driving speed shall not exceed 5 km/h, and the full-load driving speed shall not exceed 3 km/h. Reduce the speed to below 1 km/h when turning, passing through intersections, or in areas with poor visibility.
  2. Comply with Operation Standards: When lifting goods, ensure the forks are fully inserted into the bottom of the pallet and the center of gravity of the goods is centered; operate slowly when lowering goods to prevent goods from shaking.
  3. Avoid Pedestrians and Obstacles: Stay focused while driving, give priority to avoiding pedestrians, slow down in advance when encountering obstacles, and prohibit reckless overtaking or lane changing.

III. Precautions for Maintenance

  1. Daily Cleaning: Clean the dust on the battery surface after daily operation, check if the battery terminals are loose or oxidized, and wipe them with a dry cloth in a timely manner.
  2. Regular Inspection: Inspect the sensitivity of the brake system, the hydraulic oil level and sealing performance weekly; inspect the tightness of the fork chain monthly and add lubricating oil if necessary.
  3. Standardize Charging: Use a dedicated charger. Charge the battery only after its temperature drops to normal temperature. Avoid overcharging (cut off the power in time after full charging) and prohibit mixing chargers of different models.
In summary, the use of electric forklifts should follow the principle of "Check first, operate slowly, maintain frequently" to reduce safety risks from the source.
