Concrete mixer truck

The full name of the concrete mixer truck is concrete mixing transport truck, which is a special truck used to transport ready-mixed concrete for construction. It is mainly composed of an automobile chassis and special devices for concrete mixing and transportation. The details are as follows:

  • Automobile chassis: It usually adopts a type II general chassis, which provides driving power and support for the mixer truck, and bears the weight of the entire vehicle and the weight of the transported concrete. Common chassis brands include Dongfeng, Jiefang, Sinotruk, etc.
  • Power take-off device: It generally adopts the power take-off mode of the main vehicle engine. By operating the power take-off switch, the engine power is taken out to provide a power source for the rotation of the mixing drum. After the work is completed, the power connection with the engine can be cut off.
  • Transmission system: It mainly includes universal shafts, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic motors, etc. The full-power take-off device of the automobile chassis outputs power, which is transmitted to the hydraulic pump through the transmission shaft. The hydraulic pump generates hydraulic energy and transmits it to the hydraulic motor, and the hydraulic motor converts the hydraulic energy into kinetic energy to provide power for the rotation of the mixing drum.
  • Reducer: It decelerates the output speed of the hydraulic motor and then transmits it to the mixing drum, playing the role of reducing speed and increasing torque to meet the speed and torque requirements of the mixing drum under different working conditions.
  • Mixing drum: It is a container for loading concrete, usually made of high-quality wear-resistant thin steel plates, and is pear-shaped. The inner wall is welded with spiral blades of special shapes. When the mixing drum rotates forward, the concrete moves inward along the blades to realize feeding and mixing; when it rotates backward, the concrete is discharged outward along the blades.
  • Feeding and discharging system: It includes a feeding hopper and a discharging chute, etc. The feeding hopper is used to receive the concrete output from the mixing station, facilitating the concrete to enter the mixing drum; the discharging chute is used to guide the concrete in the mixing drum to a specified position, and its angle and position can usually be adjusted to meet different discharging needs.
  • Water supply system: It is composed of a water pump, a water tank, water pipes, etc. The water pump presses water into the water tank, and the water is fed into the mixing drum through the water pipes, which can be used to clean the inside of the mixing drum to prevent concrete from setting. Sometimes it can also be used for mixing dry materials during transportation and can also cool the hydraulic system.
  • Control mechanism: It can control the rotation direction and speed of the mixing drum, making the mixing drum rotate forward during feeding and transportation, and reverse during discharging. The driver can adjust the working state of the mixing drum through the control mechanism according to actual needs.
  • Supports: Including the front and rear supports of the mixing drum, they are used to support the mixing drum so that it can be stably installed on the chassis. The front end is connected with the reducer and installed on the front platform of the frame, and the rear end is supported by two supporting wheels installed on the rear platform of the frame through a roller way.
  • Cleaning system: In addition to the participation of the water supply system in cleaning, some mixer trucks are also equipped with special cleaning nozzles and other devices, which can more effectively clean the inner and outer walls of the mixing drum as well as the feeding and discharging ports, ensuring that the mixer truck is clean and free of residual concrete.
