Tutorials and precautions for using electric forklifts

I. Pre - operation Inspections (Must be Done Daily)

Vehicle Status Inspection

  • Check the battery charge level (≥ 20%) and the electrolyte level (add distilled water for lead - acid batteries if necessary).
  • Confirm the tire pressure (5 - 7 kg/cm² for solid tires; follow the standard value for pneumatic tires), the sensitivity of the brakes, and the normal operation of the steering system.
  • Test whether the lights, horn, and emergency power - off function are effective.

Safety Device Confirmation

  • Ensure that the forks are free of cracks, the lifting chains are well - lubricated, and the fork spacing is adjusted to accommodate the size of the goods.
  • Make sure there is no standing water or obstacles in the work area, and the aisle width is at least 1.5 times the width of the vehicle.

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Safety helmets, protective shoes, and gloves must be worn. Operating the forklift after drinking alcohol or when fatigued is prohibited.

II. Startup and Driving Specifications

Startup Procedure

  • Insert the key into the "ON" position. After checking that there are no abnormal alarms on the dashboard, start the forklift.
  • Adjust the seat so that your feet can firmly press the pedals and fasten the seat belt.

Driving Operation

  • Start with no load. The driving speed should be ≤ 10 km/h, and slow down to ≤ 5 km/h when turning or entering/exiting the warehouse door.
  • Drive in reverse when going downhill. Avoid sudden acceleration, sudden braking, or sharp turning.
  • Tilt the vehicle body inward when turning, and maintain the minimum turning radius.

III. Goods Handling Operations

Loading and Unloading Procedure

  • Insert the forks into the bottom of the goods by at least 2/3 of their length, with the forks no more than 30 cm above the ground. Tilt the mast backward by 10° - 15° when stacking. Keep the center of gravity of the goods in the middle. Do not carry out partial - load or single - fork operations, and the height should not exceed the driver's line of sight.

Special Situation Handling

  • Use explosion - proof models in flammable and explosive areas. Keep a distance of at least 3 meters from other vehicles on slippery roads.
  • Use the hand brake when loading and unloading manually. It is prohibited to stand on the forks.

IV. Parking and Maintenance

Standard Parking

  • Park in the designated area, lower the forks to the ground, turn off the power, and remove the key.
  • For long - term parking, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to avoid self - discharge.

Daily Maintenance

  • Clean the vehicle body and forks daily, and check the hydraulic oil level weekly.
  • Perform a deep discharge once a month (not less than 20% of the charge), and the charging cycle is 4 - 6 hours.

V. Safety Precautions

Prohibited Actions

  • Overloading (the rated load is marked on the nameplate), standing on the forks, modifying the vehicle.
  • Operating the forklift while simultaneously driving and lifting, and working in high - temperature or humid environments in violation of regulations.

Emergency Handling

  • Immediately stop the forklift and cut off the power in case of a malfunction. Place a warning sign and report the situation.
  • Cover the battery with sand if there is a leakage. Use a dry powder fire extinguisher in case of fire.

VI. Training and Records

  • Operators must be certified to work, receive regular retraining, and pass the assessment.
  • Record the usage, maintenance content, and abnormal events daily.

Through standardized operations, the failure rate of electric forklifts can be reduced by 40%, and the service life of key components can be extended by 20% - 30%. It is recommended to give priority to brands that offer a 3 - year battery warranty and conduct regular professional inspections.
